There’s something undeniably magical about photographing during peak cherry blossom season in Washington, D.C.—and Ariana and Jordan’s engagement session felt like stepping straight into that dream.
We met just after sunrise at the iconic Tidal Basin, right as the city was beginning to wake up. The timing couldn’t have been more perfect, peak bloom had just arrived, when roughly 70% of the blossoms are open, transforming the basin into a sea of soft pink and white. For a brief window each spring, the trees show off at their fullest, and Ariana and Jordan got to experience it at its absolute best.
Despite the Tidal Basin being one of D.C.’s most popular spring destinations, we managed to carve out quiet little pockets that felt intimate and completely their own. Ariana looked effortlessly elegant, and Jordan couldn’t take his eyes off her, the kind of energy that makes my job so easy.
After soaking in the blooms, we made our way over to the Jefferson Memorial to finish their session. With its timeless architecture and sweeping views of the basin framed by cherry blossoms, it added the perfect editorial contrast to the softness of the trees. The combination of iconic D.C. landmarks and fleeting spring beauty made every frame feel elevated and meaningful.
What I loved most about this session, though, was how them it felt. Ariana and Jordan were playful, romantic, and completely present with each other—exactly the kind of connection that translates so beautifully on camera.
I already know their wedding later this year at Congress Hall is going to be something special. If their engagement session is any indication, it’s going to be full of joy, elegance, and so much love, and I truly can’t wait to capture the next chapter of their story!!
